Welcome back to May, welcome back to the “roaring” month of events dedicated to motors of yesteryear! The unmissable appointments of the month run unstoppably between the Principality of Monaco, Italy and Belgium. Gentlemen, are you ready to mark the dates on your calendar?
A concentration of legends, a retrospective on vintage racing: the Gran Prix de Monaco Historique, now in its 13th edition, prepares its circuit with 8 starting grids for roughly 200 single-seaters, built from pre-war to 1980 and selected on the basis of their historical prestige. A recent generation of Formula 1 single-seaters (G Series), and two anniversaries: 40 years from the passing of Lotus inventor, celebrated with the presence of more than 35 models, and the 70th anniversary of the Grand Prix Automobile de Monaco, the historic temple of sports car competition.
In the beautiful setting of Lake Como, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa D’Este encapsulates the excellence and refinement of automotive tradition. The gardens of the Grand Hotel Villa D’Este – which this year celebrates its 150th season – are the stage for prestigious classic cars built between the 20’s and 80’s. This year, there will be two special categories of competition: one dedicated to Ferrari, at the threshold of its first 75 years, the other to BMW Motorsport GmbH, the sports division of the Bavarian company celebrating 50 years.
Hundreds of iconic rumbles resound through the forests of the Ardennes during the Spa Classic, an automotive event in its 10th edition, able to conquer the international scene for the conformation of the circuit of Spa-Francorchamps: as attractive as challenging for its mountain connotation and unreliable weather. Sedans and coupes built between 1966 and 1984 are back again, such as Jaguar XJS, Alfa Romeo 1750 GTAM, Chevrolet Camaros and, among the GTs, Ferrari 250, Porsche 917... and many other collector's items!
