When the past makes an entrance with elegance, it does so aboard a car like this. The 1914 Benz from Museo Nicolis is one of those vehicles that tells far more than just a story: originally built to accompany a Maharaja on his hunting expeditions, it now stands as an extraordinary bridge between the nobility of automotive origins and the modern pleasure of preservation.
Presented during the Concorso d'Eleganza Varignana 1705, it is the perfect symbol of the spirit of the event, whose 2025 edition is already set to welcome new entries by collectors from all over the world.
What is the story behind the car you brought?
“We brought a very rare 1914 Benz that still bears the original badge. It’s a hunting car, and it was specifically built for a Maharaja who wanted it for his hunting adventures. That’s why we also have the full period-correct accessory set.”

How long have you had the car?
“The car has been part of the collection since 2003, so a long time now, and we are very happy to have this one as well as the Modell 1.”
What makes the car special?
"This car is truly special because it represents the most iconic brand in the history of the automobile. We all know that Benz gave birth to the first car in history, and for a museum it is essential to represent that. At Museo Nicolis, we tell the history of motoring from the very beginning, starting with Enrico Bernardi, and with Benz we complete a narrative that marked the beginning of the world history of motorization.”
The 1914 Benz is therefore not only a technical rarity, but also a declaration of intent from Museo Nicolis: to preserve the memory of pioneering genius and bring it back to life for enthusiasts of every generation. An elegance from another era that, even today, more than a century later, still manages to amaze and inspire.
