There is a fine thread that connects the most iconic cars to the dreams of those who drive them. Alessandro Squarzi – an entrepreneur and collector with impeccable style – knows this well, and at the Concorso d'Eleganza Varignana 1705 he presented his 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster: a model that became legendary thanks to names like Steve McQueen and Paul Newman, but which, for him, represents much more. Preserved in its original condition and purchased the same year his daughter was born, this car tells a personal story of style, emotion, and authenticity.
What’s the story behind the car you brought?
"The car is a December 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster, equipped with a 1600 engine. It is one of only 600 units produced with this configuration. What truly makes it unique is its condition: the car has never been restored and has remained untouched over time."

How long have you owned the car?
"Well, I’ve owned this car since 2006. We live on legends, right? The Speedster is a car that Steve McQueen had, Paul Newman had it, James Dean had it. It was in the movie Top Gun, so as a kid I said: 'If I ever can, I’ll buy one.'
What makes this car special?
What makes it special is that I bought it the year my daughter was born. So let’s say I’m very emotionally attached to it. And it’s special because it embodies the idols I had when I was a kid."
In a world where everything changes, some cars remain. Alessandro Squarzi’s 356 Speedster is not just a collector's rarity: it’s an eternal symbol of charisma, speed, and passion. Just like the men who made it an icon – and those who still choose it today to tell the world who they truly are.
